About Us

The Mission of the Children Shelter of the Upstate is to provide a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for abused, abandoned and neglected children and teens.

The Children Shelter of the Upstate provides an immediate safe home for children who have been abused, abandoned and neglected. Children arrive at the Shelter any hour of the day or night during any week of the month.  Each child is warmly received with love and kindness and is treated extra special.  Frequently children arrive hungry and with out belongings.  The Shelter provides comfortable clothing, nourishing meals, medical attention, counseling and encourages academic success.  The children experience structured daily living surrounded by love and laughter.  Clean clothes, snuggly beds and warm meals help to make the Shelter a safe and happy place to live.

The Children Shelter of the Upstate has been around since 1978 and grown from a four-bedroom house on Oakland Ave. to a 15,000 square foot residential facility that includes our Anchor House, Faucette House, our Teen Mom Program and a Cultural Enrichment Center.  We are governed by a Board of Directors
